More about Sister Studios

Sister studios is a Melbourne-based label, started by close friends Alice and Emma when they began sewing clothes for their sisters and friends. It has evolved into a much loved label around Australia, manufacturing small runs of fun, structural pieces in a vibrant palette.

They minimise their carbon footprint by keeping production local, sampling and making small runs in-house, with the rest of their manufacturing happening around the corner from their studio/store in Brunswick.

Waste-minimisation is a focus for Sister Studios. They use no plastic packaging and minimise textile waste through clever design, and use whatever fabric offcuts they do generate by creating scrunchies and accessories, and donating to local schools and art studios. They don’t use swing-tags for online orders, and re-use those they use in store.

They also use a range of natural and eco-friendly fabrics, including linen and deadstock. To prolong the life of garments and minimise their environmental and carbon footprints, they recommend (as do we) washing your pieces only when absolutely necessary, gently by hand and with natural detergents.
